The biocidal activity of glutaraldehyde- containing NaviFOG, results from its alkylation of sulfhydryl, hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amino groups of microorganisms, which alters RNA, DNA, and protein synthesis. Enveloped viruses, like SARS-CoV-2—which rely on a protective lipid coating—are the easiest type to deactivate. In
contrast, with many gastrointestinal viruses like norovirus, which have a tough protein shell called a capsid, viruses with this fatty wrapping (enveloped) are relatively vulnerable. Glutaraldehyde [2500 ppm], ethyl alcohol [50% (v/v)] inactivate norovirus by >4log10 within 5 minutes. Similarly, if a virus like SARS -CoV-2 is on a surface then it is deactivated by allowing for sufficient contact time at 2500ppm (0.25%).

This product is most suitable for disinfection of vehicles for example office spaces, small food preparation areas, doctors’ rooms, clinical applications, agricultural applications and where fogging is required on any smaller surface area disinfection.
Microbial Activity of NaviFOG
NaviFOG is an alkylating agent. Aqueous solutions of glutaraldehyde are acidic. Only when the solution is “activated” at pH 7.5-8.5 the solution becomes sporicidal. More reactive sites (hydroxyl, carbonyl and amino groups) are formed at the pathogen cell surface. At higher pH this leads to a faster bactericidal effect.
Directions for use
- Place fogging unit into the desired space and release the pressure valve. Close all surrounding doors as well as ventilation and windows before release.
- Ensure ALL persons, animals and other are evacuated from the space before use. Ensure no open flame, or high temperature as well as no ignition sparks are found nearby.
- Allow the recommended surface contact time of 10 minutes before opening the doors.
